Challenge #10 Card

Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying your weekend. It's pretty muggy outside, so I will be a cool cucumber inside. Ü

I decided to make a super simple card for the #10 challenge at Kristina Werner's blog.

To the right you can see the inspiration she chose for this week . The colors are: Old Olive, Bashful Blue, Whisper White, So Saffron and Not Quite Navy.

I made waves with the navy color and for the clouds I used a flower from the Die Cut Blooms kit. The squares were punched out with a paper punch and I added the letters from American Crafts Thickers. I wrote the word "have" above the letter F with just a black ink pen because my Gelly Roll pen would not work no matter how much I scribbled with it ! Ü --Any ideas how I could get it to work?

Azalea Path and Arboretum & My Card

Today we visited the new arboretum near here. It was simply beautiful. Winding paths took us to see two small lakes, a waterfall, numerous wood carvings made from trees that were downed by a tornado, beautiful rose bushes, clematis, lots of different trees, small wildlife and of course lots of beautiful blooming azaleas.

I am sharing some of the pictures I took while we strolled through this lovely nature park.

After we arrived home, I decided to make cupcakes. I used a yellow cake mix, added chocolate chips and iced them with whipped chocolate icing. Unfortunately, the chocolate chips sunk to the bottom of the cupcakes, but they still taste good.

Also I will show you the card I made for my first Inspiration Idea--RED, WHITE and BLUE.

Enjoy your Memorial Day!

Wishing you Inspiration,

Lori

Inspiration Idea #1

For my some of the challenges, I may chose not to put limits on the choices. I will choose a picture that catches my eye and present it to you. It's your turn to make your own choices of how you want to interperet the picture to create your artwork. For example, if you see a shape say, on a wall in the picture and you want to make a card with just those shapes, GO FOR IT! If you like the color combinations in the picture, feel free to use those colors.

Other challenges I may have stipulations on. I may choose the embellishments you can or cannot use, colors you are to use or maybe which kind of fold to use on your card.

Now, on to my Inspiration Idea #1 !!

For my first Inspiration Idea, I want you to make a card using the colors RED, WHITE and BLUE in honor of Memorial Day here in America. Feel free to use any designs, style, shades of these three colors, etc. that inspire YOU to grab your supplies and create your unique work of art!

Please show your artwork by adding the webpage link in the comments in this post . A photo of your card can be on a blog or in an online gallery.

Hi There

Here is a circle card I made using my Coluzzle circle cutter. The scalloped green galore circle is made by cutting a circle and then by using the corner rounder (with the guide removed). I went around the circle, cutting each scallop. I used the SU marker to dot around the edge of the card and on each scallop. The ribbon is knotted. The picture only shows one tail.....there are two!

The picture makes the inner circles look uncentered. They're not. Ü

Ingredients:

Paper: SU green galore, pixie pink and bashful blue.

Ribbon: SU chocolate

Rub Ons: American Crafts mini marks-brown

Ink: SU Stampin Write marker in close to cocoa

I will be deciding on a challenge soon.......STAY TUNED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wishing you Inspiration,

Lori

Graduation Card

My mom "commissioned" me to make some graduation cards for her. Here is my first one, made for a girl grad. The school colors are black and gold.

After I took this pic I put a little gemstone on the tassel to glam it up a tiny bit.

I had never worked with black before. It's HARD to work with, but the result looks OK I think.

Stamp: Inkadinkado; Ribbon: May Arts; Paper: Stampin' UP Summer Sun, Walmart Black, pattern, unknown; Other: Paper Studio gemstones

Color Inspiration #8

Kristina has a fun challenge on her blog. Every week she chooses color combo's from something she's found online (usually bedding) and we get to make cards using those wonderful colors.
This week she has chosen 4 colors--whisper white, bashful blue, pumpkin pie and brilliant blue. You can go to her blog by clicking on the link on the right side ------->>>>

Here is my card. The windows beside the bed inspired me to use the circles on my card. I hope you enjoy it !

Mom's Day Card

Today I worked on Mom's Day cards.

I used:

SU! Certainly Celery cardstock, petite posies paper by Karen Neuburger, SU! Rose grosgrain ribbon, SU! Dazzling Diamonds glitter, SU! Polka Dot background stamp, MM big brad and fake dew drops I found in the floral department at Michael's.

Now I need to make a Birthday card for my Grandma, she's turning 97 on Mother's Day !

Citrus Colors

Today I received my Tart & Tangy and Polka Dot background stamps and I wanted to use them right away! After looking at SCS's gallery pics of the Tart & Tangy set, I decided to use the orange shape to stamp lemons, limes and oranges to use on a card. (I even saw one stamped in pink to represent pink grapefruit....COOL, huh?!?! I chose pumpkin pie, green galore and yoyo yellow as my colors. I made two versions of the same idea to see which one I liked better. Which one do you vote for??

I thought I could use them for a get well card, to remind the sick person to take their vitamin C......or to give to my friend (who is on Weight Watchers with me) to remind her to eat her fruits. I could also use these cards as a summertime "thinking of you" card.

Really, this set is very versatile and is sure to become a classic stamp set in my collection.
